Clean water for five million people
GuideStone has screened investments by Christian values for more than fifty years. Its first Kingdom Impact Report put a number on what that stewardship reached: five million people with access to clean water.
Three layers, not one
GuideStone Financial Resources has served ministers and ministries since 1918. Its investment arm approaches Kingdom impact in three layers: Christian values screening that excludes companies inconsistent with biblical conviction, corporate engagement that presses for Christ-honoring practices, and impact investing that proactively deploys capital.
Those impact dollars are organized around three themes: sanctity of life and spreading the gospel, human dignity and advancement, and stewardship of God's creation.
Water, financed through a bond
The story most worth telling from GuideStone's inaugural Kingdom Impact Report is not a grant. It is a bond.
Through U.S. International Development Finance Corporation bonds, GuideStone invested in WaterEquity's Global Access Fund — capital that helped provide access to clean water for five million people across Asia, Latin America and Africa.
That is a fixed income allocation. It behaves like a fixed income allocation on the statement. And it is also five million people who no longer walk hours for water that makes their children sick.
Giving built into the fee
GuideStone committed to donating 20% of management-fee revenue from its Impact Equity and Impact Bond Funds to Christian ministries — $376,000 by the end of the first reporting year, aimed at sanctity-of-life and gospel-spreading work.
“Whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water... will by no means lose his reward.”
